Bunches of Beagles

Copper Country Humane Society is working with Big Dog Ranch Rescue to take in 6 of the Ridgland Farm Beagles. These beagles have spent their entire lives being handled for research, so they will be experiencing a lot of big changes. They are going to need some extra TLC before they are ready to be adopted, so please be patient with us as we work with them. We will also ensure they are vetted before going home.
What can you do now?
Donate to help cover vet bills as well as their day-to-day care.

Be patient if you are interested in adopting or working with them.
If you are interested in adopting you can apply, but please be patient as we get them ready for homes. We will also get the word out when they are ready to go for walks with volunteers.
UPDATE MAY 8, 2026
Beagle Update!
We want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and love. All of your emails, messages, and voicemails have been seen. We have gotten over 100 inquiries and it’s amazing how many people want to help.
That being said, we have to be completely blunt and open about these beagles. This may be a long read, but we feel it’s necessary information for anyone who wants to adopt a Ridglan Beagle.
1. We don’t know anything about their history. Zero records were provided, so we don’t know what they were subjected to. We have a completely blank slate when it comes to their former lives. That’s important to note, because while we can get the bloodwork and other vetting done, it doesn’t provide a complete picture of what may show up down the road. Yes, that’s true with any animal, but there may be more risks in these cases. We just don’t know.
2. There are tons of videos going around of all of these super cute Beags running around, having a great time, and some even sitting in people’s laps. Yup, they have a blast running around outside together. They are friends with each other. Some will come up to us with a wagging tail. But, they do not want to be pet. They will run away if approached or touched. It took us over an hour to get them back inside after the playtime in the posted video. They are NOT social with people. They may never be social, loving, attention seeking dogs. Their formative puppyhood days were not spent with people the way that most puppies are. They didn’t get the attention or love, and while dogs are super resilient, not knowing what to expect from new people or ever feeling a bond with a person has a huge impact on their lives.
3. They have zero manners. They aren’t potty trained, they pee on everything, bury their food, dump their water and love to poop. Beagles are stubborn. Untrained Beagles that don’t want to be touched are even more stubborn. It’s like having a puppy with huge ears that refuse to actually use them to listen. 🙂
4. They aren’t leash trained. They current have zero desire to be leash trained. If you put a leash on them, they tend to start doing some amazing gymnastics in order to escape.
5. They are absolutely adorable. They deserve nothing but the best out of life, and deserve adopters who will be 2000% committed in working through all of the trust issues, hiding, potty issues and whatever else crops up. They deserve secure homes where they are treated like they are in Fort Knox, because let’s be real: if they get away, it’s very likely they won’t be caught.
When they are ready for adoption, we will begin processing any applications that we have on them. Please note: these dogs WILL need another dog friend in the home. The comfort and security they feel having another dog around is something they have to have.
