Cody’s Cause to Prevent Cruelty

Help stop animal cruelty and abuse. Despite Americans’ love for animals, an animal is abused or beaten every 10 seconds in the US.  Animal abuse and neglect is not only wrong; it is against the law in every state.  It all starts with YOU being the voice for these animals and reporting abuse/neglect to local law enforcement.  Speak out about what is often a silent crime that goes unpunished.  Provide as much as information as possible when reporting animal cruelty. The details that you provide can go a long way toward assisting the investigating officer. It helps to write down the type of cruelty that you witnessed, who was involved, the date of the incident and where it took place.  Follow up and make sure law enforcement acts on your report.

Learn to Recognize Animal Cruelty and Neglect:

  • Wounds on body, patches of hair missing, matted and dirty.
  • Tick or flea infestations – left untreated can lead to an animal’s death.
  • Extremely thin, ribs showing or weakness.
  • Limping or signs of injury with no signs of being treated.
  • An owner striking or otherwise physically abusing an animal.
  • Animals who cower in fear or act aggressive when approached by owner can be a sign of abuse.
  • Dogs left alone without food and water, often chained up in a yard day after day.
  • Dogs kept outside without shelter.
  • Dogs tied outside on very short tie outs or constantly tangled around obstacles in yard.

Help make their voice heard by reporting animal abuse and neglect.  It all starts with you!Resource: http://www.aspca.com and http://www.bestfriends.com
