CCHS 7th Annual Shelter Bash

The Copper Country Humane Society’s 7th annual BASH is scheduled for Saturday, July 16, 2011 from noon to 4pm at the shelter. This event combines a live auction of close to 100 items with more than 20 themed gift basket raffles. For an added dose of fun, we offer our guests the chance to guarantee their luck at the prize wheel. The event features comfortable, shaded seating under the big top with free hotdogs, soft drinks, and cake for our guests. The Bash is family and pet friendly, and the shelter is open for adoptions during the event. If you’ve never had the chance to witness a family taking home a new pet from a shelter, it is a heartwarming experience. A special Bash tradition is to announce adoptions as they take place so that we can all celebrate the success of our mission – to find loving families for the homeless dogs and cats that come from our area.

In 2010 alone, we found caring homes for 676 dogs and cats and reunited another 217 with their grateful owners. While at the shelter, all of these animals had a comfortable place to sleep, ate nutritious food, and received any medical attention they needed. Prior to adoption, we ensure that all pets are sterilized. This is an essential step in preventing unwanted litters and reaching our long term goal of “no more homeless pets”. To accomplish what I’ve just described, we must spend roughly $11,000 each month to pay for vet care, food, litter, utilities and wages for our animal care staff. Therefore, as delighted as we are with our continued success, we know that we cannot stop our fundraising efforts. That is why events like the Bash are so important, and why we are so appreciative of donors like you who make the event possible.
